Born in Portland, Oregon in 1961, Kris Haas is a self-taught artist whose intuitive approach to abstraction reflects a lifelong dedication to creativity sparked at an early age. Through experimentation and self-guided exploration, Haas has developed a distinctive visual language grounded in presence, material sensitivity, and emotional truth. After stepping away from art during early adulthood, life’s challenges—including a transformative divorce and a Traumatic Brain Injury—led her back into the studio, where abstraction became a means of healing and communication.

Influenced by abstract expressionism yet deeply personal in intent, Haas’s work is known for its raw immediacy, gestural rhythm, and textured depth. Notable commissions include two large-scale paintings fora Washington, D.C. lobby near the White House. Her work has been featured in major television shows and resides in corporate and private collections across the United States. Haas’s art continues to evolve through the lens of intuition and emotional resonance—using movement, layering, and color as acts of presence and reflection.
