“This show is an exploration of the use of repeated patterns to create a feeling of ecstasy within this medium of eggshells. Using the batik process to create backgrounds of strong colors is meant to bring the viewer into the exuberance that shaped the experiences now rendered into visual art. Combining different techniques (batiked and painted eggshells) in the same compositions presents the viewer with a tension inherent in ecstatic moments - the known self and this heightened experience dwelling together simultaneously for the first time.”
