Gym Boys
”My Grandfather was a Depression-era boxer who held two world titles and trained at my great-grandfather’s local gym in Quincy. This series draws from family narratives and memorabilia. These works are a reflection on the resilience and hope embodied by that era.”
Counch Potatoes (TV Guide)
”I discovered a 1980’s TV Guide featuring Joan Collins from Dynasty on the cover at an antique store. As I flipped through its pages, a wave of nostalgia swept over me. I remembered specific episodes and had feelings of comfort and familiarity.
Looking at old TV Guides and painting on their pages became a conduit for exploring the significance of television, as well as the personal and collective memories it evokes.
I hope this series invites you to reflect on your own relationships with television as a source of entertainment, comfort and cultural identity. It’s fascinating to think about how TV shapes personal narratives and societal narratives alike.”
